I am hearing the story line is being changed in the show even more then we thought which is kind of sad. For example no strong belwas.

they have made a few changes with Dany's story, a lot from season two, and as u mentioned, the lack of strong belwas with barristan, as well as how fast they learned that it was Barrsitan under the hood.

that said, dont count Belwas out yet. they delayed the Reed kids meeting Bran and Rickon in Winterfell well before Theon showed up with the iron men, the Mira and Jojen Reed have been casted for season 3.

Also we are not suppose to see Theon or Ramsay until book 5 (after season 2/book 2) and yet we also know that both Theon and Ramsay will be in season 3.

always remember GRRM has creative control. any changes to the show were approved by GRRM.

Prob hard to keep the actor who plays Theon around if they don't at lease inject him somewhere into season 3-4(book 3) some how. They did say that things would be more linear in the show vs how it jumps around in the books.

They also changed Sansa story so that LF comes to her instead of Dontos Hollard.
