My younger brother and I used to use a crossover network cable and Network Connection Sharing to play on a 28.8 dial up connection. It worked amazingly well for the time. I can't imagine it being even remotely functional nowadays.

heh, me and my wife did that too - but we were around 56K for what it's worth. I used a Internet sharing program called 'Sygate' - because Windows didn't have internet connection sharing at the time - or at least what I had didn't.

Plus, EQ actually went to 1920x1080 resolution too - that was cool, the skellies in Freeport and the rats were right up in my face!

My eyes are too shot for my old 17" monitor, even though - I may still have it.

I have used a trackball since probably 1996. Wouldn't have it any other way.

I know a guy who plays Urban Terror(an fps) with a track ball...and he rapes face...somehow...

I think p1999 is a good start, but I am taking it one set further.

I started by getting my pentium 2 unit from my parents house and my old 17" 4x3 CRT monitor.

I then found an old ball mouse and my old super load keyboard.

I then found an old copy of windows 98(first edition of course) and installed it fresh. Now i have a gaming rig worthy of 1999.

Some say it might be a little far, but I say stay true.

Voodoo 2. Good times. Sadly, that's all I remember about that machine that I got in 1998.

hah, I still have the Voodoo I used for EQ way back - crazy huh?

Of course, it's just sitting in a drawer...

EQ came out when I was a senior in high school and I was on 56k at my parents' but I went to Purdue that fall and got to rock out with the high bandwidth. Talk bout bliss. Let's just say I didn't want to come home the next summer.
I remember back then too that all the Canadians had broadband but hardly anyone in the States did.
