New to Project 1999. Love it

Back on topic.

The server has been going for 3-4 years now without any indication of shutting down, so it seems to be going strong. The devs seem to have at least a minor interest in continuing to add content (they do have full time jobs, so it sometimes takes awhile.) Since it's free, it doesn't feel right to complain. I think the main Project1999 page has a donate button where you can send money through PayPal if that's your thing.
