I haven't owned a manufacturer made desktop since my Compaq in 2001 (gogo AMD thunderbird 1ghz!) that still runs to this day... lol.
As for laptops - like I said in my earlier post: AMD's "A" class CPU series is very good for running games. The fact that they integrate GPU and CPU processes makes the shared video cards much more effective. You end up getting the gaming power of a much better computer. I am blown away by how effective the A10 CPU + Radeon GPU is in my HP lappy. The fact that I can run Deus Ex: HR, D3, SWTOR, and the like on max graphics for less than $500 is amazing. You def don't need a $1000 laptop to run games... just like you don't need a $1000 desktop to run high-end graphics.
