However, if you go into Everquest and attempt to hold the 4 key down to activate a keyboard macro, it will not repeat!?

Oh my, why would this be?

Well, it's quite simple really- Everquest was written differently than Google Chrome was! In fact, Everquest waits for the operating system to send it a "KEY UP" event for the number 4 before it will reset the button and allow the macro (or item on the hotbar) to fire again!

You see, the developers at Verant/Sony very specifically wrote the client so that you couldn't just hold down a macro button to repeat the action. They intended (and forced through code) for hotbar items to be tapped, not held down and repeated.

Third Party Tools, Exploiting
We do not tolerate cheating on Project 1999. Any program that provides an unintended advantage or gleams access to information not otherwise available is very strictly prohibited.

Do not make the mistake that you may get away with it because you used it on Live Everquest. We put much more effort into the detection of these utilities than SOE ever did. You will be caught and banned if you use them.

The same holds true for exploiting. If you have the slightest doubt that what you are doing may not be intended, please cease immediately and seek clarification from the server staff. Failure to do so and discovery of your actions will lead to disciplinary action.

Seems straight forward enough to me [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

If I am wrong, and it is deemed something that should not be used, I will make sure that people dont use it to the best of my ability...

To me it just seemed like an arbitrary distinction between being able to have a key held down as opposed to having to jam it repeatedly. Helicopter did not lie to the GMs and even told them he was AFKing off and on while using the macro buttons.

You guys are reaching for something that isnt there.

I just looked up the Logitech G510, it's autofire macros are not keyboard based. They're software based.

You still can't duct tape the keys down on one to achieve the same effect.

The problem is you think that holding down a key is acceptable. We might as well just turn the auto random aggro FTE back on.

Using a programmable keyboard to map a bind from the standard set of keys on a keyboard to the extra macro keys whichever fancy portion the keyboard puts them on is not against the rules.

Now, if your keyboard allows you to hold down a button - which many modern ones do, you should check them out - instead of jamming it, wtf is the issue exactly?

Seeing as it is pretty impossible to tape down a key on the normal set of keys (try getting any letter key to stay down, for example), but possible to tape down the keys that are set for macros, there is nothing strange at all going on here. The difference is between holding the key down with your finger or having it held down for you.

There is nothing devious about this whatsoever. No rules were broken. No macro loops created. There is no ruling on this anywhere to my knowledge that makes this against the rules.

Thanks kids.

FE Supports cheating using autofire - GM's hold them accountable.

/hug Project 1999 - how many more FE will go down with this ship?

Sorry, this is not straight forward.

This leaves it up to the judgment of the individual. If I have my roommate sit and jam a button when i take a shower as opposed to having some material thing hold down the button, what is the fucking difference? Is my roommate an unfair advantage?
