![]() Hi,
My friend is using the EQ Emu launcher, is able to select and see server listings, selects P99 (tried the Red/PVP P99 as well) and it just hangs at "Loading into the server please wait..."

![]() Who is his/her internet provider, and what modem are they using?
Also, disable the windows firewall for a moment to check to see if they can connect.

![]() Did he try the 3.5 NET Framework? (4.0 is current)
I had to uninstall .NET framework 4.0 and install 3.5. .Net framework 3.5 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...ils.aspx?id=21 And the service pack: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=25150 and after that, do windows update to get the updates ( might have to restart before and then go to windows update and manually check for updates )

![]() Thanks Lyra for the help.
I went ahead and tried using both 4.0 and 4.5 (the latest) since I personally use 4.5 at home on my computer, I am now at his apartment troubleshooting the issue. We see the servers listing in the EQ Emu program, we select the P99 server, get the EQ Login Screen, punch in the details and it hangs on "Loading into the server...Please wait" We do NOT get to that 2nd server listing from the Everquest Login Screen. I think its his port as 5998 DOES show as CLOSED. We have forwarded in his router settings without any luck though, tried both 5998 TCP/UDP and tried a range of 5900-6000, nada. Is there another way I can open port 5998 other than the router settings?

![]() After re-reading your post I realized I misunderstood your scenario, which is why I pulled my original suggestion.
Did your friend accidentally patch the game beyond Titanium by chance? You can double check by hitting the "options button" on the EQ Emu launcher and see what "client-type" has selected. If somehow the game was installed then patched beyond Titanium that might be related. Other then that I'm not much help with the router question. What model router are you using?

![]() Search these forums for "5998 Blocked"
I did and there are a lot of suggestions. Rather than me try to guess which would apply, you will probably see something helpful.

Anyway, try doing that real quick as sometimes using the launcher can make some peoples client work all screwy. It's rare, but it can happen. Just run eqgame.exe using the above instructions, and make sure you set the serverlist file correctly before starting up! That being said, it probably wont fix your problem. If he has that port closed, EQ is probably not going to be able to connect (I *could* be wrong here, but i dont think i am). What steps did you take to set up port forwarding on his router? What brand is the router (the steps to open ports is different for different routers, so i can't help with this without knowing)? What model? (less important, but can make a diffrence) Is this a router/modem combo? and lastly, but also most importantly, is it possible for him to just set up his router to using dynamic IP's for the connected machines instead of static ones? This should solve his problem if its a network related issue. It's also a little safer security wise. If you can, turn off static IP's in his router settings and see if that works. Get back to us with answers to those questions, and make sure you try my eqgame.exe suggestion! -gotrocks (original account temp. banned for some reason?)

![]() So this is the friend. The router/Modem is a Netgear cg3000d. I believe the settings are already set up for a Dynamic IP. something that is also weird is when i go to check my ports at "Canyouseeme.org", No matter what port is put there it says it "Can NOT see me" even port 80. But I have been playing other online games on this machine as well.
@jimsox I have Titanium selected there is SOD and SOF in the list but no others

Find out if you can run DMZ on your PC. You will set up DMZ for a specific local network ip which is the IP you see when you go to a command prompt (Start-> cmd.exe) and type ipconfig, it will be listed as your IPv4. If you set DMZ on for your pc you will open all ports this is a good way to check if your router is blocking you. If you have a success after this then it is your router that is blocking you. Try that first. Also, what Jimsox means is after you installed everquest did you run the everquest patcher? (don't do this) If you do this and it starts to patch the game the files will be too up to date for the project 1999 server (and probably too corrupt for any other server)
