Should bard mezz really supersede enc mezz?

As in, is it classic? I don't really know -- I am new to playing ENC as of The Sleeper progression server.

I do know this is what happens.

'Your spell did not take hold'
6 seconds elapse
a froglok krup shaman hits YOU for 121 points of melee damage!
