im 100% sure it did not detect MQ because i used MQ as a GM, and i knew players that used MQ. the "come get your free kill" thing was triggered by 2 things: 1) running across a zone with a lot of lag, so that when the server updates it thinks you warped, or 2) if you used MQ to warp a large distance. and thats it.

any other mq use/plugin was not / is not detectable with that system. and you are right, its impossible to stop 100% of cheating, because some people will, as you said, go to any lengths of cheating to try and convince others that they are good at EQ.

that being said, this is real life. and in real life, anything build by man can also be unbuild by man. While i know some people get away with MQ and i know some people get away with boxxing, i also know that MQ use is MUCH less rampant than it ever was on VZTZ.

When p99 first lanuched, they claimed there was no cheating here. so i came over from VZTZ and fired up Bodu's MQ compile, and within 10 min i had gotten away with MQ and found a pathing exploit to level off of. i honestly tried to attract staff attention with my actions because i wasn't buying into all the hype.

then back in August of 2011 Rogean and Nilbog unveiled their new freshly created MQ detector, and the first time it was ran, 365 accounts were flagged for MQ and very harshly punished (losing all coin, and well as 50% of their total xp). it is by far and away the best MQ detector i have ever seen on any server (be it eqemu or eqlive).

indeed. but i knew thats what all the cool kids had, so if there was a detector, it would need to be able to catch that build. and now it does.

theres always going to be ways to work around, if theres a will, theres a way. however what Rogean, Nilbog, and the rest of the staff do is try to make it more trouble than it's worth. we constantly make tweaks and adjustments as players find new ways to hide, we find new ways to find it.

i'm having a hard enough time working up the interest to log into a 100-pop eq server, let alone a 20-pop one with boxing

also if those 20 people are playing restored characters with full resist gear/epics, what's the point in even starting there
