My only advice is never /q to exit the game. It always happens to me when i do that.

/q works fine for me, except when there's a mob chasing me (not necessarily hitting me). It ALWAYS without fail makes my /q put me into a long LD until the mob nearly or does kill me off.
With how fast connections are these days, there is zero reason a /q should not effectively disconnect you immediately (sans any server save /update that needs to be done).

I have never had the 1018 error from /q.

I've only had this when I'm logging into an account someone is already playing on.

If it's happening for any other reason then something in your client files is corrupted, or the server is playing up (more likely).
A petition is only thing I could suggest.
