Grad school will hopefully take me in that direction. Give me time, dammit!

I don't know how good it is for reheating, but I like to make this six spice hanger steak recipie I found online. I can never find hanger steak, but I believe that skirt steak is right next to it on the cow, and the recipie works fine with any steak really.

From: http://www.gourmet.com/recipes/2000s...e-hanger-steak

For steak
2 teaspoons Sichuan peppercorns
10 black peppercorns
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon anise seeds
1 (2-inch) piece cinnamon stick
4 cloves
2 teaspoon packed dark brown sugar
1 hanger steak (about 2 lb and 1 1/2 inches thick), center gristle removed

For sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar (not seasoned)
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon minced peeled ginger
2 teaspoons packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon minced shallot
1 small garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Equipment:an electric coffee/spice grinder

Make steak:
•Preheat broiler and lightly oil rack of broiler pan.
•Finely grind spices with brown sugar and 1 1/2 tsp salt in grinder.
•Pat steak dry, then sprinkle evenly with spice mixture and rub into meat. Broil steak 2 to 3 inches from heat, turning once, 7 to 12 minutes for medium-rare. Let steak rest on a plate at least 10 minutes.

Make sauce while steak rests:
•Heat sauce ingredients, except cilantro, with meat juices from plate in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring, until warm. Stir in cilantro before serving.

It's sooo good! The first time I made it I didn't have an electric grinder, so I ended up grinding everything in a pepper grinder. It took forever and my arm was sore by the time I was done. If you have an electric grinder, you can probably make it in less than 40 minutes. Even without an electric grinder, its totally worth making. With $15 dollars of steak, you can make a meal for four people that tastes better than a $30 steak at a restaurant.

I live in nyc and don't eat meat so I pretty much live on falaffel and hummus.Only problem is a full meal of the stuff runs me about 10 bucks a pop so when I saw the hummus wrap recipe I popped like 5 boners. I'm totally going to make a shitload of these this weekend and save like 30 bucks a DAY.

Just had this fuckin delicious but simple meal.

Pasta with chicken and bell peppers and sauce and feta (i want a copyright on that imaginative title)

Ingredients:
- Cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, pasta
- Garlic, onions, bell peppers, feta cheese, pot of ragu-style veggie sauce (pick one thats good yea, here we have these artisanal style sauce, i had a 4 cheese sauce)
- Pieces of chicken (I sometimes do this without chicken, if you are veggie its still good)

---------------

Linguinis ---> boil em and cook em.

- In a large pan, put oil, onions and garlic, with some cumin powder and coriander powder. Season the chicken in a separate bowl with coriander powder and salt, try to spread the mixture well.
- Brown em a little then add chicken. Cook for a couple of minutes, add bell peppers. Cook a bit more, then pour sauce on top, and add the feta cheese.
- let that shit simmer for 10-15 minutes so the flavors blend.

The end.

I do something similar to that a lot. 'Cept I usually dont do sauce and just make it an olive oil thing. And throw in whatever other veggies I may have lying around. Hella easy and hella good.

Pretty much anything with olive oil is great success, maybe not cereals but you know. In my recipe, i used olive oil [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] Its expensive but its one of the few luxuries i treat myself to, i never use cheap oil.
