For me the PvP is really good in a group v group setting. 1v1 stuff usually ends up being a slaughter b/c one person was attacked while lom fighting a mob or something. This is my first pvp server myself and I like the pvp more than I thought I would. I do not seek out fights for the sake of fighting, but I like the option if I want to fight for a camp or get revenge on someone. Things to know(at least the stuff I have learned so far) - Make friends. If you try to solo all the time you are going to be really frustrated by random ganks when you are low on hp unless you pick a really remote unpopular place to fight or predominantly play from 3am-10am est. Buy pummice(vendor 5 charge nullify magic for 15pp). you can use this dispell your opponents buffs dispell root or snare if they land it on you or your group. Check /who often. You always want to know who is in zone. It is also good to have an idea who is who, pay attention to what class a player is so you can prepare accordingly if they zone in. Also good to know who are the type to be looking to pick a fight and who are the type who might just be there to get xp and only fight if you step in their way. Once you are in a guild friends/enemies usually are pretty well defined. Practice jousting - staying on top of a person meleeing is often not the best option, nor is it easily done since they will be trying to avoid you some of the time. I have never really played a melee pvp so I am not going to elaborate on how to do this, but I'm sure others can offer input.

EDIT: Also just the fact that a melee needs high MR to stand a chance to any caster makes endgame pvp very gear dependent. Being rooted and snared every 5sec isn't what I call fair pvp so now I need to farm up MR so I can even get a hit in.

I wish it was always like this and JUST this..But then after the kill the rest of the community is forced to endure or to attempt to ignore the next possible 5-30 min of immature banter that almost always ensues after the kill. So many "are you mad bro?'s"...makes me cringe. Would be great to kill the person take the coin and move on....but most folks must have that extra validation of humiliating the person at the keyboard using /ooc. If humiliation is your thing then use /tells. Leave me out of your childish antics. BTW i do play on Red about half my time, and it is a lot of fun...just cant stand global /ooc though i see its benefits but also the drawbacks like I just described. Looking forward to the xp bonus.

Beyond that, you just have to know the limitations of your class. If you are outdoors, a melee that gets jumped by a caster is at a disadvantage. Indoors, its vice versa.

I think this is the proper place to post this thread. OP just wants to give you guys an opportunity to try Red server, get a lot of levels with minimal time invested. You guys really wanna talk about red99 being fail? Take a look at your rnf as 40 year old adults piss and moan over FTE on a world dragon. LoL!

I could give my pally heirloom set to a blind kid with no hands and he would kill most players in the lower brackets just by breathing on them. Or my hunter stuff. Or just the gun. Etc etc.
