Rogean I'm glad you are entertaining the possibility of yellow text. VZTZ was fun times when there were 100+ chars on line (mostly boxers) and right now the server has 55 on. So as much bitching as people do, the server seems fairly healthy with Kunark incoming.
As for your argument that YT defeats the purpose of anon, we already have global OOC where people can announce the location of their kills if they choose to. What a kill broadcast does is act like CNN with breaking news updates. When a bunch of kills happen in a row in the same zone, you know a major fight is going on. Yes it encourages people to gank and grief, but at this point I think anything that encourages people to come back and fight would have to be considered a bonus. There's no ganking and griefing going on when the server only has 25 people that log in every night. People have consistently asked for this... it wasn't a big issue to me... but I'll chime in in favor of it now because I would like to see not just a temporary bump in population with Kunark but a sustained bump in population. Peeps want YT. Thank you for considering it.

I gotta get this out of the way first: I'm reluctant to even play on your red server again since you were AWOL from the forums for so long when the population was dropping. I'm glad you're posting here now and haven't just pulled the plug on it, but there's a level of trust that affects anyone's willingness to really commit to the character progression. On-topic: YT makes the server feel alive/active, which is pretty important for low-pop servers. It also gives the person doing it a bit of reward for getting a kill. It stimulates OOC/chatter. Competitive trash talk was a big part of the classic red servers. It existed on the classic Discord server, which was similarly low population. On VZTZ (and LoZ), most everyone liked having the feature. The "players will find out where I'm at" is more theory than practice. In 4 years of VZTZ I can't recall a single forum thread complaining about YT ruining their covert operation in some rarely-visited dungeon. It was a plus to have any inkling of where pvp was taking place. Again, this is the low-population thing. Whatever concern exists about being able to hide from pvp is outweighed by the ability to find pvp.

also: teams
TEAMS Light/dark, 4 races, SZ style - whatever. Those servers were more popular than RZ. Casual players have a better time. People know where to go (Karnors = lightie dungeon, Guk = dark, etc). Zone control is meaningful. Guilds reaching critical mass is less impactful because allying smaller guilds on the same team is more viable. It won't happen but I would never leave this box if it became the striking image of 2000-era Tallon Zek (or VZ/SZ).

+1 for teams. Would love to see that happen. What are the obstacles for doing teams mid-play? Is my previous comment a possibility or not able to do with current code?
Give players a one time option to change races, all faction work is zero'd out and reset to base race faction. Probably would have to do a search of items that were race-linked quests as well, like the human cleric thing that gives them lich.
