Background FPS Limited

Hi There,
I was wondering if there was a way to increase the background FPS of EQgame.exe so it doesn't run extremely slow when alt-tabbed. I have seen a few programs which would assist in accommodating this request, but I am hesitant to install anything that is not first approved. Please let me know if this software is available for use, or if this can be edited easily in a config.
