I was able to finally get online by downloading and using the lavishsoft program WinEQ2. This was the only way I could seem to get around it.

Was able to log in just fine during the fathers day/double exp weekend. As soon as Monday hit, every time i get to the server select screen and hit play EQ, it just brings me back to the log in screen. Are there some files that im missing from the global load that i need to input or something? I'm currently US military member deployed overseas, along with skyping my family, playing EQ is a major morale source, so any help would would be graciously appreciated. Thanks!

@swift Im also just now having problems. Server and client have been working fine for me the past two months, and just in the past two days I havent been able to log in. I get to the server select screen and its blank, or I just timeout. I dont know what the problem is, but nothing on my computer has changed.

Im in China so I cant download wineq2, and I live in a company apartment so I dont have access to my routers settings.

Anyone know a fix for this?

I'm having the same problem, just started happening a few days ago. I have trouble connecting to the server page, it says I don't have internet, but after a few attempts it connets. Then I connect to 1999 and it loads character screen, once I try to log in the game freezes and sends me back to the login screen. Every time.

This sounds like resolution issues.

I can tell you that most of the issues I've run into with the game not starting properly stemmed from windowed mode not being set correctly in eqclient.ini. For starters, open that file in a text editor and see that you have lines that look like this:

Code:
WindowedMode=TRUE

WidthWindowed=1024
HeightWindowed=768
WindowedWidth=1024
WindowedHeight=768
If the height/width numbers are different, that's probably fine. Any resolution you want should work. I think all that matters is that both resolutions match, and that WindowedMode is set to true.
