Another round of Login Server problems

well yeah, there have been a bunch of outages, but if you search the forums for threads like this one, i think you'll find that every sunday night aroudn the same time people post the log in server is down, and you should also see that it started with the last patch...random outages are going to happen, but predictable ones probably mean there is a bit of code that should be changed

damn it, again. this time i'm the healer in MM and had to zone from aggro and couldn't go back in to help. group probably died.

wtf is this happening for all the time? it doesn't seem hard to monitor a login attempt as a heartbeat check every few minutes, and reboot when its doesn't work after issuing a "Server reboot in 2 min" broadcast in-game Message.

like everyone else, i stare at the EQEmu or p99 site population count and watch it just fall - sometimes for hours - before someone/something even notices?

automate it.


i know its free. i'm not asking for a human to keep babysitting it. if you're smart enough to have a server, site and supporting tools i see then you're smart enough to have a simple automated login monitor as i mentioned, right?

i feel like if you tried to automate something like that, people could/would find a way to bug it out by logging in and disconnecting at the same time, forcing a reset, which would be a pain for everyone else. I mean maybe it could be done, but seems a bit iffy to me
