The big deal stems from two things, imo.

1. The staff doesn't allow it. If they don't allow it, it doesn't happen. Period. I know it's kinda dictatorish but you're on a free server, you're going to have to expect that.

2. Sony didn't, and still doesn't, allow RMT on Live either. So it's Live-like. Besides, EQEmu barely skates by as "legal" through the Creative Commons License as it is. Real world currency exchange, or anything else that could be seen as 'immoral' (pirating clients from hidden bays) could result in the project being a target for Sony. Something that, atm, it is not.

And last but not least, 3. Most people work hard for their shit. Allowing RMT means anyone with a little extra cash to throw around IRL has an advantage over the actual players.

There is nothing that someone can buy here that isn't obtainable with out RMTing, so the only advantage would be time and really I wouldn't find it fun playing a toon I didn't build up so I don't care if I don't have the best gear instantly and someone else does how is that effecting me?

Not saying it should be celebrated, but the focus on it from this community and staff bashing is out of line.

RMT is impossible to prevent that's why it is a part of EVERY MMO, it's going to happen quit talking shit about the people making this project possible there is NO way to stop RMT specifically between groups of friends/guildies.
