Low level Shaman dot damage.

Just wondering if everything is correct. The P1999 wiki says the dots should be doing more damage than they are actually doing.

Level 9 dot does 8 a tick max.
Level 19 Affliction does 6 a tick... which is pretty bad for a 19 dot.

It could just have been like this in classic. Not sure exactly never played Shaman.
Anyone here know if this is right and working as intended?

SHM Dots suck until higher levels, otherwise it would be too easy to kite mobs with low hp at the lower levels.

Things pick up quite a bit later, and the damage output of Dots starts to increase quite a bit.

Yeah the low lvls shaman dots did suck horribly.

yea the lvl 19 spells are'nt that great, but at 24 you get a better dot/nuke that helps out alot, so sadly at 29, most of our spells are utility then

Also, if the target is running toward you, it ticks for less.. anti kite code.

The dot may do less damage per tick but it probably lasts a lot longer. The disease dots are generally bad until you get into the 20's, when you can start stacking for greater effect. Stuff dies too fast at lower levels for it to really be effecient.

Fair enough, I don't play on Red.... but he did say PVE.. i would think the code for that is the same.
