I will add to that - I think if the exp curve at 1-30 was increased (even if it meant 30-50 taking longer / resulting in the same amount of total exp from 1-50) and hybrid penalties were nuked, the server would be significantly better.

If you don't agree then I would suggest trying to play any hybrid right now from level 1-20 and tell me you can endure that without wanting to drown yourself in hot pockets / alcohol.

So what was wrong with Image and Devnoobs RED69 server? It was classic, they fixed stuff and no one hacked. They caught anyone who used any sort of hack. Plus, the exp was not super fast, but not a huge grind like Red99 is.

You're looking at leveling the wrong way. You can't view it as logging on and trying to hit 50 asap otherwise it is brutal. Get on, try and get a level, log off and do something else.

I'm actually happy it takes forever to level. It's going to mean there will be mid level pvp, which never existed on any other emu because you leveled too fast. And due to that nobody ever did shit till they were 50, 60, etc. Mid 30's and 20's pvp has always been awesome, people just forgot about it.

I'm not disputing any of this.

But my personal opinion is that I can't even play on this server because the exp rate is so brutal -- "classic" or not. The game doesn't even really become interesting until level 20'ish - how much grinding does it take to get there? 50 hours? 80 if you're a hybrid?

I was able to get several dozen TZT'ers playing on Secrets crappy VZTZ. The turnout for this server was disappointingly low. There are maybe five people playing now. Lots tried it and gave up before level 5 after realizing they spent eight hours whiffing on moss snakes to barely advance into the newbie levels.

I'm not here to criticize or tell anyone how the server should be run, so let that be food for thought I guess. I'll probably give it another go once it's easier to twink or PL.

I really lovehate the grind; it's caused me to explore old exp spots more thoroughly and discover new dungeons I previously missed out on by going the easy LOIO/OT/DL route with kunark.

Youknew what you were getting into when you picked a hybrid, especially troll sk. If you wanted to hit 50 with the littlest grind possible then you should have picked a halfling melee.
