This is still an issue, Mesmerization works as intended, max of 4 targets, aoe, etc. But, single target mez's should OVERWRITE this, AND vice-versa...

The reason I know this is because I grew up as a chanter and I specifically remember aoe mezzing, then single target mezzing and keeping them all mezzed while group picked them off, one by one. Unless I was resisted an ungodly amount of times, which rarely happened, the mobs never hit me, I would ae mez, single target mez the ones that the group wasn't hitting and then mem blur them so I would lose agro.

I've also noticed the bard/chanter mez stacking issue... if a bard mez's a mob that's been mezzed by a chanter... it does some odd things, it moves and attacks, EVEN though it still has the mez on (The mez wear off message comes only when someone damages it or it actually does wear off...) If the bard's song goes off I think it stops moving and attacking... it's like cancelling out the effect of the mez if there's two of them on...

Either way, two huge issues.

pretty sure it's working as intended. this is from the p99 wiki, which i believe the source was originally a castersrealm guide that was current during late kunark - early velious. Some of the guide is written like a journal and has some dates posted around December of '99. source

Quote:
Mesmerize, Enthrall, and Mesmerization do not stack, and you must let one expire before putting on another. For example, if you have been AE Mezzing three mobs, and you want to switch to Enthrall on them, you'd best root them or something while they're under the AE mez, and when the effect breaks quickly Enthrall them. I recommend just layering the AE mez on until there's only one mob.

I've scoured through the eq patches looking for this change as something like this would have been a MASSIVE change that would have been noted in a change log, but I couldn't find anything, I searched words: mesmerize, mez, mesmerization, aoe, area of effect, overwrite, enchanter. Nothing that would indicate a change to the effects not overwriting each other.. I played a chanter for 7 years and I know I always had them overwrite one another.

The only change I could find that is worth mentioning is: "Changed all enchanter mesmerization spells so that they overwrite Screaming Terror." on 9/11/2001.

In case you're wondering where I searched, it's here: http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/

Can we have word on bard/chanter mez overwriting each other? Right now, bard mezzes can't be overwritten by chanters.

yup, played enchanter from start on live. Mezz overwrite was always a pain. It was patched in years later to allow ae mezz to be overwrote by single. Weak bard mezz overwrote long enchanter mezz without recourse to remezz.
