Yeah this is fucking game breaking
Amazing that this wasn't fixed before release, this is one of the most basic and necessary mechanics for low lvl PvP. Not only xp is super super slow to get, but you don't allow your low levels to get protections from guards... you really want everyone to quit after lvl 5 do you ? | ||

Seriously, it's not that big a deal. I died after a very harrowing run to guards. I just made it and that's when I found out no assist.
I learned after that. I don't run to guards and die now. Its not been such a big deal.

Have you guys never played on a FFA PvP server where guards/npcs don't help? Seriously, you people bitching are a bunch of pussies.
You should have played Asheron's Call on their FFA PvP server Darktide. No NPC help. No bank. Most people loved to pk in towns because you'd always hit someone up who was overburdened trying to sell after just coming back from a dungeon. They'd drop items and half of the money they had on them. If you got lucky they hopefully had sold a bunch of shit before you pk'd them so you'd make a ton of $. Since there was no bank either, you had to mule everything you wanted to keep. Your mule could be killed and would drop some of your items if someone ever found your mule spot. EQ FFA PvP is so much easier with guards that would attack and a bank. It's like fucking candyland compared to Darktide.

NPC's assisting or not assisting is about more then just pure pvp. It makes the world feel more alive, and brings more consequence to your characters actions. Makes diety choice more meaningful (faction boosts/penalties), and gives the player one more way to "customize" his character (always a good thing) by putting in the WORK to improve his faction with a certain set of NPCs.
Guilds can also coordinate their faction efforts to become the "heros of <insert city here>" and have a strong/safe base to operate from. Anywas, its all around just a good thing. Maybe some customization is in order for pvp servers health sake. Like guards only assist when the faction levels of the two fighters are more then 2 steps apart, instead of the current old one step. I think that would be a good compromise. But the devils in that detail. But it sounds like it is being worked on so thats good. | ||
