if you have to "gloss over" anything the author writes then it's not a very good author is it?

Wheel of time will never be released as a movie, unless they just condense a few books in to one movie that has the same characters/plot concept but otherwise doesn't resemble the book at all. It's just too damn long to properly portray in a movie.

Compare it to Song of Ice and Fire. HBO needed an entire season to portray each individual book. Some WoT books are longer than Ice and Fire books, and WoT's intended series is twice as many books (14) as Ice and Fire's intended series length. I don't even expect Ice and Fire to survive through seven seasons. I actually don't expect that waste of space Martin to finish the series, tbh. I think he will pull a Robert Jordan.

With that said, I think WoT is worth reading. It had its high and low points. I read it first at 19 and re-read the series last year in anticipation of book 13 (8 years later). I actually enjoyed it more this time around as I was able to appreciate the subtlety of the plot and character development. Also, since I read them all straight through I didn't wait a couple years between books and was able to retain a lot more of the details about prophecy foreshadowing and ter'angreals that are relevant to the end battle.
agreed, this type of epic fantasy appears to ramble when it is translated into a movie, i more suspect a movie would be a "WoT themed" "based on WoT" type adaptation.

i do it with all literature, it's just how i read. i skipped entire chapters of a song of fire and ice that i later returned to (and truthfully, a few of them i didn't) because they didn't interest me at the time.

like, i cant be bothered to care about the entire daenerys subplot, i read enough of it to keep up to speed of what's going on but that's about it.

As Robert Jordan, author of Wheel of Time would say:

Weep for Manetheren. Weep for what is lost forever.

My only "real" problem with WoT was the fact that you would get really into a scene, and then POP, NYNAEVE PULLS HER BRAID (im not sure im spelling her name right)

I propose that Pickled Heretic is in fact Shaere(or some selected Taken representative) here to spin the obvious misstep he made in the screenshots provided. I dont trust your motives nor your intent for 'changing the thread topic.' We will not participate in anything you have going.

it's okay, i do it too =]

the thing is, some readers, especially those of the feminine persuasion, like the long descriptive passages, so it pays to be a fan of series that aren't just all action and suspense and also have lots of descriptive text in them, even if you don't really care for them personally. as long as there's stuff in the book you like, who cares if you skip a page or two?
