Yes, hp buffs have a heal component.

Yep, as per the examples mentioned already...

Inner Fire, Level 1 shaman spell, used in place of minor healing.

Deepwater Helm (Daring) as a mana free 6 second healing spell for the 45+ pally world.

HP buffs used as healing.

Level 1 Druid's Skin like Wood increased your max hp, but did not heal you
However, all other Skin buffs, increased max hp AND healed you at the same time.

I also used my Elder Spirits legs as a free heal in groups during med time

I also played a newbie shaman back in 99, I specifically remember using Inner Fire to heal instead of minor healing cause it was more mana effective.

I remember using my skin line to heal myself as ranger heal is pretty much a joke and used the same amount of mana, during Kunark

Basically, hp buffs from the classes that had the heal spell would also heal the person.

The self hp buffs int casters get did not (so they presumably wouldn't have a direct self healing spell)

This. Same with Skin like Wood. Was always a more efficient heal than minor healing as a newbie.

It's been said a few times already, but the thing that I remember the most about playing a shaman in classic is spamming that Inner Fire for heals.

I do remember some upper level HP buffs that didn't have a heal component though. However, I'll be damned if I could ever remember which ones.
