Default Greedy Vendors

Certain merchants should charge higher prices for what they sell, and buy items at a lower value. These were known as greedy vendors. They usually have some background lore about why they are overcharging. They existed in classic and still exist today on eqlive.

These are the ones I know of so far. Do you know of more?

Noresa Sparkle—West Commonlands
Boomba the Big—West Freeport
Ping Fuzzlecutter—West Freeport
Meera Lylon-Qeynos
Tubal Weaver—North Qeynos
Everyone—The Overthere
Aimee Moonspin at the NFP bank
Merchant Ueaas-Greater Faydark

I've noticed this with forest giant loot. For instance axe of the ironback vendors for something like 11p, but they charge 600 or 1k to buy it back, can't remember the exact number.

edit: This is pretty much all vendors in cab.

Not exactly what I meant. I mean there are npcs which at the same faction, will buy or sell to rip you off.

i.e. Lanhern Firepride operates Firepride's during the day. At night, she is replaced by Meera Lylon so she can go drink at the bar.

"Hello. I am afraid I cannot tell you much about my merchandise. I was hired by Ton to look after the shop at night. I can tell you that you would find a better deal during the daytime hours. Ton instructs me to charge more for nighttime service."

Lanhern Firepride tells you, 'I'll give you 2 gold 3 silver 6 copper for the Cloth Cape.'
Lanhern Firepride judges you amiably -- what would you like your tombstone to say?

That's not exactly what he means. Items have a hard ceiling for which they'll sell or vendor for; let's say it's 10p to sell and 25p to buy back at best prices (high cha/faction). Certain vendors - greedy ones - would only pay you a maximum of 8p and sell back the item for 30p at best prices.

edit: and nilbog beats me to the punch!

I'm not entirely sure, but I think Shady used to act this way?

I believe he did as well, I remember being very reluctant to vendor to him as an evil race.

But I always had to because it was the only option.

I remember meeting some of these vendors on Live. IIRC they were usually merchants in a city that you'd first encounter upon zone in (the Halfling and Human Gypsy in Neriak Foreign Quarter, I think) or like Merchant Ueaas in Faydark (he was right off the newb lift, right?)

I recall Shady being a bad deal
