are you people retarded? v twins are the shit- super torquey and lots of power for a new rider. telling the op to get a (first) bike similar to yours because yours does a 10 second 0-120 just speaks to how bad the advice is that you're giving.

I suggest an 04-07 GSX-750R.

Its easy to strip, not new so when you low side it you dont go broke, light so easy to flip for corners, pretty quick, ideal track bike, fairly cheap, easy to add shit to it, common so easy to get parts...

Meh, it's not like 100+ bhp is uncommon these days. You get that kind of performance (in a straight line) from a cruiser too. And V-twins sound like tug boats, sorry. My favorite tug boat is a late 90s TL1000R. And comparing it to my fav late 90s ZX7R (I like the 90s...) it's really no contest. Even when comparing it to, lets say, a Ducati 1198 which is really beyond Visage pay grade.

The nicest tugboat of them all:

Not a tugboat:

Like I said, the power in those two is pretty much what is expected of a modern cruiser. I bet you're just pissy cause your first bike was laughed at [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

Lol, you dont have to wear a fucking skid suit to go through town. Some of you are just fucking clowns. I'm not saying be like my friend, and do standups in flip flops, but having on a full skid suit, and racing boots when going to the store is going to make you look like 1 thing: a fucking clown.

1 thing nobody has mentioned, and prolly cause they either dont know or havent thought of it, is a riding bell. There are some rules to it tho, you cant buy it, and you cant ask for it. You have to be given one by another rider etc.
You don't have to wear a skid suit going to the store. You're right. But you'd be a moron not to wear at least a riding jacket and good shoes with heavier pants. Statistically most motorcycle accidents happen on rides where people go less than a few miles. And it's not always the riders fault for getting in an accident, wearing more gear makes you more visible to the people around you. I've seen people get on bikes and crash at the end of their block when they were "just going to the store." Granted they were not the brightest crayon in the box but neither are the people driving around cars.

oh btw: when it comes to gear, like others have said, wear proper gear. i buy my gear from leatherup.com . great prices, good service and massive selection.

leather jackets "can" cost 300-500 like someone mentioned, but only an uninformed retard would pay that much for one.

never walk into a store to buy motorcycle gear. walk in, get sized for your jacket/helmet/chaps/pants whatever then go online and order it for much much less.

you don't "need" to wear leather, textile is just fine. however you do need to wear a full faced helmet (stay away from modular helmets too) and be sure to cover every part of your body that has skin ...

that means no shorts, no short sleeves, no fingerless gloves. must wear boots (exhaust pipes get damn hot and if your ankle touches the wrong spot you wanna be covered).

you need to (at a minimum) take a basic riding course, often times upon successful completion they will also give you a waver to get your motorcycle endorsement without having to take the state riding test.
You wouldn't be a retard to spend money on a jacket. You CAN spend less, hell, you can buy a textile jacket for $75. But have fun replacing it anytime/every time it gets even the smallest tear in it.

I spent $300 on my jacket and I will most likely never have to replace it. If I get in an accident bad enough where I would have to replace it, I'll most likely be dead or never riding again. I enjoy the fact that I feel protected when I get on my bike.

I hear it's especially enjoyable when the hospital has to pull chunks of asphalt ground leather out of what's left of your skin. Enjoy your cheap jacket lmao.

you completely missed the point. i have both a leather riding padded jacket and a textile, point was to buy the jacket at the right place so you're paying for the product rather than markup (which sound like what you paid).

the jacket i have was marked down from $350 to clear inventory and i got it for $119, so does that make it a $350 jacket or a cheap $119 one? ... maybe i should have bought your $300 jacket for $89.99 [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Link to the jacket i have

so the point is: you do not need to "spend" that kind of money (read: retail) to get the right gear.

of course some people will always feel inadequate if they don't overspend/overkill/over-do things [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'd suggest what's in my sig. Its manly, fast as hell, sounds great, the ladies love it, and it isn't a bike, which most are gay.

You just have to pay 50$ in gas a week.

I didn't buy my jacket retail. Don't assume. Just because you found your jacket on sale, doesn't make it any different than mine NOT being on sale. Way to take a moot point and try to flame me over it.

And yeah, judging by the picture you should have bought my $300 jacket for "89.99." Road retards can't see black at night. Bright red, on the other hand....
