I have the same issue...removed wsock, then took suggestion to remove eqgame.dll etc to get rid of that remove wsock message. Now, I get an unknown error has occurred.

EDIT: I went and tried the EQlauncher. I thought that maybe removing the eqgame.dll was causing it so i put it back and tried the launcher. Well, I got past the wsock message however I got the same unknown error anyway.
