Right now in my community we have more unhoused and folks full-time on the street than I've personally ever seen at any point ever before. The economic machine that allow doing what you're suggesting ever more cheaply is oiled with the blood and tears of my siblings and neighbors.
Somehow housing became hideously expensive for no reason.

Yeah, but at least Ekco will have his smart home. Which is more important? That a minority of people on Earth can own conveniences that never existed before 10-15 years ago? Or that a majority of people can afford housing, food and access to clean water?

Every year collectively in the United States, we spent $1 trillion on sports sporting events and sporting goods if we ban sports and diverted all that energy and money into feeding the homeless then we would solve the problem.

Why don’t we do that?

250 billion is spent on video games every year should we ban video games because not only are these people wasting money buying video games instead of giving that to homeless they’re spending hours of their lives playing these video games instead of helping the homeless like they could be if they weren’t playing video games.

Of the 900+ billionaires in the US.
Combined wealth is roughly $6.8–$7 trillion

To cover the cost of ending hunger in the U.S., you’d need roughly:
~0.4% – 0.5% of billionaire wealth per year

Only billionaire wealth is mostly tied up in stocks/businesses.

To actually collect meaningful revenue from billionaire wealth tied up in stocks/businesses the governments can tax annual gains, apply a modest wealth tax, tax borrowing against assets and tax gains at death.

This hybrid system is the most realistic way to get steady revenue.

To prevent the silly statement that the billionaires will just leave the US there could also be an exit tax, global cooperation to end more safe havens and ongoing taxation of wealth. Perhaps more taxes on really expensive real estate.

The most effective systems should not rely on just one way to tax.

You are the one that seems to think that only they are our salvation.
