What happens when EQL fails?

A sub + in-game pay-to-wins. All so we can play Uber Me.

They can't change the world or the mechanics or anything, enough to make this money grab appealing and financially plausible past August for at least half their fanbase.

If we do not get a Merge before EQL we surely shall not get one after it is launched. Expect Rogean to sue his own project, in fact.

An additional sub AND pay-to-win.

I was planning on playing it b/c I thought it surely was going to be part of all access.

These are not precious IP's worth their weight in latinum. I can come and goof off here playing the 1-10 minigame when the new TLP gets me down, which of course it eventually will.

Tomorrow is the launch day which means it's time for cursing in the in-game chat channels as the servers go down. "I took off work" -- people still do that!

Player retention is gonna suck. The same crowd that speed-runs TLPs will jump to EQL, speed-run EQL and then run out of stuff to do before they can release xPacs.

Folks who used to play EQ back in the day might come back, check it out, think "whoa this is way different than the EQ i remember" and stop playing.

Half their fan base would rather they went bankrupt, and they are still going to play EQL.

My guess is they will make a ton of money, validate their horrible existence, and then daybreak will blow it all on a bunch of failed follow up releases.

That's how I felt about EQ2. Nothing like the original.
It reminded me of England vs New England. The place names are the same, but they're nothing at all alike.
The disconnect was too much.

I really don't think it will fail. THJ was a mod and it dwarfed their live numbers.

Make it a direct download from a reputable source and everyone who has ever wanted to kill a dragon in EQ but couldn't can now?

I think that will be big numbers.

I could be wrong but thats just what im expecting. Serious rewards for these god damn enad global 7 types.

Is there EXP pots in EQL like quarm or something?

I think the concept of EQL is interesting but it seems poorly done. I don't feel like playing Diablo EQ but I could see how some might like that.
