The detection of the 3rd party software is not a violation of privacy rights as the server is where the software interacts. I remember when Sony announced they had this ability years ago and people threw a fit, but the point was that many people were using third party software unfairly. One of the things I like about playing on this FREE server is that the devs have established it and advertised it and are making it a level playing field for all players based on the players skill...not unfair third party software.
Basically I'm all for the bans. I know those who want to play PVP on the upcoming red server will be happy as well because of the chronic cheating that occurs on pvp servers.
So enjoy the TS cookie if you were banned. If you're stupid enough to actually think you can sue and win on this issue there are lawyers who are happy to take your money while they represent you. They get paid whether they win or lose.

Good work....seems a bit lenient though. Going from 60 to 54 would suck for someone like me but to the hardcores it's like a 3 week setback.

Should have also lost all keys and god/dragon loot as well as deleveled to 45.

Hell I might even do it now. Heres to hoping that people who play on the server are taking the hint that they can't use 3rd party programs.

I do not think all you lowbies understand what ShowEQ is versus MacroQuest

ShowEQ is simply cheating, no way around it.

MacroQuest is for people who play MULTIPLE toons (also known as multi boxing) on PEQ and many other servers who allow boxing.

Now....


Macro's are written not to "Cheat" but to control all your characters from your main toon.

Simply put...

if you /load a macro on project 1999 you're wasting your time unless you're boxing... (which would be considered cheating anyway so either way you're fucked)

I also know for a FACT, that when /loading a macro on a different server, it does not /load that same macro in all other windows.

I have not cheated for all 59 level's I acquired. I might have AFK'ed a shit ton but you know what, I put in my time and I've helped this community every way I can.

Noobies all around Norrath know Bearnuts as being a friendly and giving player.

I support Project 1999 stopping people from using showEQ to see when mobs spawn, what loot drops, etc. (these are things I have only heard that ShowEQ can do)

I currently do not mind the ban.

EQ is not my only joy in life, let alone Project 1999.

I do want to congratulate the GM's on really cracking down on 2-Boxers, the sad thing is that many people who get exempt accounts will and do box their "significant others" characters and I think that they are sitting back and laughing at this situation because they basically have a VIP card to do whatever the fuck they want.

I know the Dev's are very disappointed by the use of 3rd party programs, but they need to understand the difference between people knowingly cheating to gain benefit on project 1999 (IE: Boxing, ShowEQ) versus people who have every right to enjoy their EQEMU experience on other servers.

You cheated on p99. Sorry but that's a fact. Uthgaard even stated in another thread that they'd know if you just ran it on another server.

I think it pretty sad they feel the need to cheat, I suppose they weren't people around in the glory days of EQ.

At least half of what I find enjoyable with p99 is the fact I'm having to work my ass off and I'm catching myself feeling how I did when I first entered Everquest.

To the cheats: If you want easy mode, I really don't know why you bothered at all, You're ruining the experience for other honest players who enjoy a challenge. You're the same people who whine in real life and have no patience or appreciation for dedication and hard graft. Enjoy your just desserts, however I do feel the punishment on you should've been harder.

To the noncheats: See you in game, keep up the good work.

IMHO this could be a potential for legal privacy concerns or even illegal wiretapping. If you value your financial and other personal information I wouldn't run these dll's without some kind of privacy statement or a legal binding contract that holds them responsible for potential malicious intent.

This is a huge personal security and or legal nightmare. You can say "well then don't play" but the truth is I can't trust this code thats getting executed and neither should you and the fact that it wasn't explained in detail in the release notes and the source isn't offered makes it border line coercion.

While this might have caught cheaters i think this was the total wrong approach to take and frankly irresponsible from a computer security stand point.

I have no problem with the P99 staff checking whether I am running a hack (via seq or mq) as I am not a cheating scumbag. Personal security, don't make me fucking laugh. You and all the other scaremongers talking about how this is the first step to having our identities stolen need to get a grip. Fuck off.
