Typically in climbing it is whoever ascends a climb first who names it. Ondra has been climbing since age six and if you look at when he finally climbed this complete route, although he is known for his excitement and screaming in exhilaration on sending climbs, when he clips the final anchor his reaction at that time is why it's called Silence.

He used to casually talk about using fentanyl recreationally so he's probably dead. I hope he's not, but he probably is. It would take a drug that strong to interrupt a healthy forumquest.
