Perverted minds will distort your cheery good will into claiming you're telling people to eat a dick.
In my sweet limey naiivity I thought the only other thing BBC stood for was British Broadcasting Corporation!

Considering it's Daybreak, I'm going to temper my expectations. It hits a little different when you log in and your screen gets cluttered with krono and marketplace slop.
Let's be real; this is the only reason these games are even up still. Being below 50k subscribers use to be a death sentence for MMOs in the 2000s and very few games can validate the archaic $15 subscription model. Granted, not a big fan that this Legends game will have a subscription model. Should just place it on Steam with a $10-20 price tag and allow people to create their own lobbies.
In fact, they should also get a developer like Beamdog or Aspyr to port over and remaster of the Champions of Norrath and that one mediocre RTS.

No, the games would be up if they were free.

It is instead the only reason a global international investment banking firm is suing people who make these things for free.

Ah yes, magical pixie dust would continue keeping the servers at DBG up. Got it. And just make sure to not include the part where TLJ were making $100k per month in profit on their ingame cosmetic store. Always love when that part is not mentioned, otherwise they won't seem as saintly as you're trying to make them out to be.

One time payment would have been better than subscription model, I agree. If the EQ IP had "died", it would have been carried on by the emulator communities, frankly with greater care and respect for the IP than daybreak usually gives.

I am cautiously pessimistic about the announcement. I don't want the server to be close to a 1 for 1 of THJ because there were design elements of THJ I also did not like. I would want to see what spin and inspiration Secrets and Rogean have on the vision of an EQ solo fantasy server. And frankly, they would have to have a better one than THJ to retain my interest.

Including ours, potentially ... why would Daybreak want P99 operating a free server that directly competes with their paid one?
because p99 is for the hardcores that have 8-10+ hours a day and want to poopsock raid mobs, get batphones at 3am and race for FTE.

this is for casuals. p99 will still be the same garbo unfriendly place after this server comes out

You missed my main point. I don't care if THJ or any other free server gives people options:, for casuals or anyone else: that's only good for everyone overall.

My concern is that P99 won't have updates, won't get new servers, and may even get shut down. Rogean is going to this new server and DBH has a major financial incentive to limit or close any competition ... neither is good for P99's future.

So they are bringing in a mentally unstable MAN in secrets to run this? LOL what a fucking joke. That faggot needs therapy and some sort of meds, not to be running a game.
