Skill ups from low level mobs

Can i level archery by shooting at a mob that dosen't give xp?

From memory I don't think so but that is how most melee skills work (even if this one is ranged).

You'll get a lot of skill ups from just pulling everything with bow then shooting 1-2 extra arrows as the mob closes in. As the levels get longer this will be less of an issue. If you're lagging behind early on you can always root an exp mob and shoot it a ton then repeat until skill is max'ed.
