Default Some changes that would make the game more classic.

Change 1: Consent. When someone first consented me on P99 I got scared that I was going to get accused of stealing their items. Then I later found out that you can't even do that. I understand why the change was made. But it would be more classic to have a /consent 1 (only grants permission to drag corpse) and a /consent 2 (allows you loot items).

Purpose this would serve.... make item transfer safer.... and more classic.

Change 2: Being able to cast Bind Affinity on other casters outside of city limits. This was 100% how it was in Classic. I remember an instance where a caster everyone disliked got bound in the Plane of Hate by another player in their group during a large pull. They had no clue they were bound in the PoH until it was too late and they entered a vicious death loop.

I'm not suggesting that this change be implemented for griefing. I am suggesting that other casters be allowed to bind other casters anywhere in the world, but to have a box pop up, similar to the box you get before asking if you want to accept the rez.

Why would I suggest this? Because as a level 12 who can cast bind, it's frustrating to have level 9-11 friends who I want to propose moving to a more prosperous area, but having them be hesistant to do so because they are scared of the fact that if they die, they will have a huge CR. Or even a more simple explanation. Oh our Cleric is a Dark Elf and they have to run from Nektulos Forest every time they die? Would be nice if I could just bind them here in Oasis like I am.... like I could in true classic EQ. But I can't!!

Not being able to bind other casters was never classic, so I would be curious to hear the argument for why this is a bad idea.

Also add yall own suggestions to make the game more classic if you got 'em.

Since I can't edit I will just quote this and say... honestly having this popup box would probably be a good idea even for non-casters who are within city limits or other bind areas. I feel like being bound should require a certain degree of consent.

I have no idea if those changes were in place during the classic days, but I approve them.

Shouldn't the lesson be, don't be the person that everyone wants to strand in PoH?

Anyway, a deathloop is only horrifyingly bad if one is afk.

The game make sense. Don't try to undo what makes it make sense.

Restore Sentinel to its tunnel crashing glory.

Consent to loot corpses was patched out a few weeks into Kunark.

The classic mechanic with consent was folks could drag/loot your gear.

I learned this cold hard lesson when i was duoing in crushbone for the first time. A buddy of mine had bought me a polished granite tomahawk and and I had a full suit of leather (which I thought I was the total shit).

Anyways while killing orcs at the entrance of crushbone someone saw me and asked if I wanted to duo. I said sure, they then got me killed. they said to consent and they would drag my corpse to entrance. instead they looted it and left it in the river...

i was 14 at the time and my therapist still hasnt been able to get rid of that trauma...

shortly after that, within a month id say, kunark launched and they patched out looting to stop folks from scamming others and stop allowing no drop items to be transferred via consent looting...

It was definitely unintentional the /consent loot, and they fixed it during Paineel release patch:

Quote:
FEBRUARY 17, 2000:
The City of Paineel, home to the infamous Heretics of Erudin, is now available via the Optional Patch. In addition, Erudites may now also be Shadowknights in addition to the other classes available to them. All Erudite Necromancers, Shadowknights, and Clerics who worship the God of Fear, Cazic-Thule, now start in the City of Paineel. As such, if you wish to create a character of this type from this point forward, you *must* download the Paineel zone-files via the Optional Patch.

Recently, an exploit was discovered that allowed certain unsavory individuals to loot the corpses of other players without their consent. The precise symptom of this is that the owner would find their corpse stripped of everything except for no-drop items, and items in a bag with no-drop items. This exploit was fixed in this patch. If you were affected by this exploit recently, you are entitled to a reimbursement of your lost items assuming that we still have a record of what you had. Please contact a GM in-game to arrange for an investigation. During the course of the investigation, people who have exploited this bug will be subject to disciplinary action by our GM staff up to and including item wipes, suspension, and/or banishment.
Something else interesting from the same patch:

Quote:
The "Feign Death" spell, when cast by a Necromancer, will now have a fixed duration. The Necromancer will receive several warnings prior to the spell wearing off. This change was necessary because some Necromancers found a way to gain experience through their pet while being AFK for an extended duration, such as being in bed for the night. Note: This does not affect Shadowknights or Monks.
This is still a thing on Live. Necro's feign death wears off after a certain amount of time. It should be implemented on P99.
