MMO’s were killed by an aging demo. I’m surprised anyone is trying to make a new one (even if it’s an EQ rip off) in 2025.

P99 is bottled nostalgia. MnM isn’t. IMHO, if you are looking for the “next EQ” just play a different game and occasionally run though Oasis on p99 for the warm feelings.
Even just removing "massively" from MMOs might work, making it more current / user friendly and putting less strain on dev teams who tend towards scope creep and mass appeal, even while claiming to be niche. More like Valheim. Share the same world with a number of friends and maybe enter others' worlds for an agreed upon duration to quest, battle, etc.

I don't know, I've thought about it honestly. Blue at this point feels like a dead server; it's frankly depressing. Need a port? No dial on. Want to group? Maybe if you're lvl 50+ you can find one in KC, but even that's not a guarantee anymore. Looking to buy some gear? Good luck, EC is dead most of the time. Want to raid? Well, there's exactly one guild that clears all content 99% of the time outside of draft. I have 4 nearly 5 max level characters on Blue and there is literally nothing for me to do but farm plat or solo a lowbie alt. It's just depressing and not what I expected when I went hard to get there.
Like sand through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.

Green? Never.. my entire mormon family is on blue as well as my achievements I've never had on live. Never got the bug to want to start over and over again, playing multiples of each class, not in a game like this.

How about we just unify <3

For most Blue players, the issue isn’t difficulty — it’s starting over. Losing established mains, gear, plat, and guild ties is a big psychological hurdle. The 1–30 grind with no momentum is what stops many from switching. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

That said, offering banded gear, a little plat, and basic spells does help a lot. Reducing that early friction is probably the most effective way to get hesitant players to try Green.

Starting a level 1 necro and grinding away is easy. Gearing a passable melee off fine steel is a tactic as old as EQ. It’s just a matter if the player base has the patience to grind one more char at this point.

If P99 went away I might try Quarm. Hopefully I’d just chalk this up as a nostalgic romp and hang up my skates.

The more annoying level range is 55-60 IMO. I don't like leveling a character past 55 because the number of good camps/zones is reduced to a handful. Those camps tend to be camped most of the time, especially on a higher pop server. XP slows down a lot 55+.

That is the biggest hurdle for me to switch to Green, getting my first char to 60. You generally need at least one level 60 for raiding, and it makes farming easier too.

Levels 1-50 aren't too bad if you know what you are doing. There are also a lot more zones for lower levels, so you can always find something to camp, even if it isn't optimal.

I don't play on Green because when it was first announced, we were told it would merge back into Blue at the end of it's timeline. I thought it would be nice to have a couple years with less competition for camps and it would give me plenty of time to get to lvl 60.

Now, I have a couple lvl 60 toons, and continue to play on Blue because there's nothing to gain from going to Green. Sleeper's dead, economy's bloated, raid scene is nothing but drama. Why would I move to deal with that?

Default The promise

Green was promised to be a rolling restart server that would feed into blue. Keeping to the initial plan would make me start fresh on green. Other than that, I'm going to Monsters and Memories.

.
Do you, though? At this point you could have a level 1 char, get a raid guild invite with access to their bot army. Can play bots during pops to start acquiring DKP. Slowly level your "main" to 46. By the time you get there, you can dump DKP on it and be a walking god from 46-60.
