EQ released too early IMO, ignoring the fact that the devs had every intention of releasing it in 1998. Another year and they would have recognized the hybrid xp penalty was bad. Maybe rogues would have been more physical CC than DPS. Maybe kerra would have been playable race, all but eliminating any opportunity of vah shir. And maybe, with more initial polish, they wouldn't have "updated" the graphics for SoL.

They had a freaky deaky cabin in the woods by the river. I think no SKs either.

FWIW starting Paineel faction is basically meaningless. Just kill a few Erudin guards or wait for the Warrens and kill some kobolds.

To tick all your boxes, Inny Human Cleric is the classic choice.

Damn. Yeah I was already thinking about how you'd need 35 to /list for guise so even if you stopped there you wouldn't have a tonne of levels to get to 50? From paineel before kunark launched.

I think it makes a better case for an alt.

I did reconsider necro as altho they don't have class clickies they do have that pre nerf invis item but then you have a non iksar necro...

Barb shammies diety clicky sucks but halas faction is a nightmare so they that going for them.

Trolls don't benefit much from guise because already evil race and all shams get bear form eventually.

Everyone plays ogre and it's basic.

Fyi though I don't like to kill one faction to raise another. I'm not an rper but I find that immersion breaking. It betrays the faction quest point of getting everyone to like you.

I struggle here too. I'd like to play a necro, but not sure how to avoid feeling like hes gimpy when Kunark and Iksars drop.

The only justification I really have is that a successful hide can properly break aggro on FD, but then again so can a /q and relog; though it breaks immersion and I'm sure in some cases you'd just lose the camp.

Also just so it is said, the true power behind the Guise is the clicky shrink that it offers large races. Not really needed for Shaman's as they can already shrink themselves, but obviously you love all the illusions haha -- I enjoy your enthusiasm for all those little things

That hasn't worked here for a long long time.

Also, I don't see how Necro meets your criteria. There are no classic clickies and they don't really benefit from Guise or to a lesser extent Manasone. Gnome Necro is a fantastic combo though.

Note that shrink isn't in the game for several months. Also DE is significantly less hated than troll/ogre so you get some mileage out of the illusion on an shaman in places like FP. I am not sure about Tribunal Barb in evil cities, but even if it just gets you OT faction, that's worth something, not to mention the Ultravision for barb is huge. So Barb shaman gets value out of every aspect of guise (size, vision, faction) and has the more neutral base faction. Inny Troll shaman gets you a sometimes useable clicky and has a FP friendly deity. Ogre RZ has a very neutral deity, benefits the most from the shrink and provides some value come Velious.

Anyway, suffice to say I think any non-cazic Shaman is the next best for your faction / legacy item min-max, behind Human Cleric of Innoruuk.

Honorable mentions: Human Druid of Tunare and Agnostic Human Monk.
