It's a beautiful dungeon, it's just so damn easy to miss during progression [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

There is a goblin just before preacher which always spawns as blue at 30, but the accompanying goblin always spawns as non aggro. It is a good fellow.

I'm gonna say the wizards / clerics in permafrost make it more fun. The dungeon isn't so dense they are too stacked on top of each other letting you carefully position to avoid heals, but it is also dense enough that you can usually work out spots where you can use proximity to stop the mob you are fighting running.

Both clerics and wizards like to cast their AoE, which adds in the fun mechanic of corner dodging their spells, rewarding attentive gameplay.

If you are on a class which can befriend animals, like shaman, druid or enchanter, then there is a mini dungeon full of wolves where you can spawn a large dire (always level 24) which absolutely tears the goblins up too!

The ZEM values are not accurate on the wiki and the results will not justify the annoyance.

Perma is great from 15-30. As shovelquest may not have figured out - you need to venture further in than the entrance to find higher level mobs, a staple of EQ zone design.

The biggest problem with places like Perma/SolA etc is they are indoors and are problems for large races. I think if I was to do some QoL stuff I would allow for Sow/Harmony indoors. Also if the game ever gets remastered I would make these indoor places larger. I do not think the ZEM increase is worth the trouble of being indoors. That is why Unrest/MM>COM>KC is the premier leveling route.

Perma is so cool as it is a bunch of tight goblin passageways tunnelling in and out of an ancient ruined giants’ castle.

I wonder if SoE ever added a version of the zone where it was permafrost at it’s peak without all the cave ins and goblin tunnels break ins.

Edit: like I wonder, did the goblins move in after most the giants fled to Velious? Like an adverse possession? Or was there always elements of a goblin presence? Was it like Downtown Abbey where the giants were the gentry and the goblins were the servants with a bunch of snaking hidden passageways so they could subtly service the giants while minimising the goblin's presence in front of the giants?

I don't think permafrost is on the same level, after you're out of ent tunnel I think the ceiling is generally much higher. Some tight hallways though, not a problem for pulling but limited vision when crawling as a group.

No pathers in Goblin tunnels of permafrost. Really lets you dictate where you fight.
