And really, his intention is supposed to be there for everyone to see, in the upper-left hand corner of this page ("Classic EverQuest") ... ... which is why it's so maddening that (even without status updates) we can clearly see that he's ignored how unclassic Enchanters since before Green was ever announced.

Though the enc class has enjoyed an OP state forever, there has been at least one non-classic nerf that benefitted the least popular class (pal) and hemmed in one of the most popular (enc), with soulfire charges being made paladin-only. That change doubled down on the risk vs reward gameplay enchanters offer and netted raid paladins DKP per soulfire. Not classic by definition, but a sensible nerf that would have happened in classic if players started to farm soulfires left, right, and center. | |||

I consider all these unclassic changes to be "classic+". They might make the game less like live mechanically, but they make it more like it spiritually:
But then there are other unclassic changes. Clearly, Nilbog was shooting for "classic+" when he fixed the SG glitch, and of course when Velious was released, no one on Live knew of it. But by the end of Velious (and certainly by a year or two later ... remember we've had Velious for four years on Green, and even longer on Blue!) it was common knowledge that you could camp at the entrance wall and come back across the zone. By making that change, and then bringing back the pre-nerf OVP (something no one on live ever cared to get), Nilbog turned something every live player did for free (get through SG without an evac or DA) into something that requires a 50k+ item (or many hours spent on an unclassic /list) on P99. Whatever Nilbog's intentions, I think it's debatable whether that really makes the game any more like live in mechanics or in spirit. But not fixing the charm duration, not fixing Lull, and not even trying to fix anything else charm-related for many years here can't possibly be considered classic+. It just makes our emulation less like '99-'01 mechanically and in spirit. Quote:
