Unless things have changed THTA drastically since I've played (Legion was the last time I played I think?) then this is B.S. In WoW PVP is almost exclusively between factions (arena aside) and you literally cannot even speak the language of the opposing factions in game. Unless you're like "real-id" friends with someone who is playing on the opposing faction, there was just no means of communication.

That's why it was never personal. Becuase you couldn't talk or commuicate. ut that doesnt mean people werent brutal about it. You'd get camped, locked out of a quest region etc, for hours at a time sometimes.

And after several deaths you start having multiple minute delays on your resurrection. starts with no delay. Then a few seconds. then 30 seconds. then a minute. then 3 minutes. I cant remember if it went further than that. But it sucked.

Things have changed drastically.

1) x-faction is a thing now. horde and alliance can be in the same guild as each other now. they can queue for content together, and easily speak with one another.

2) as an alliance player, most of the time I queue for PvP I end up getting placed on horde teams. I don't know why, but it's actually true.

3) Discord - this one is probably the main thing. Most WoW realms have super active Discord servers (think of all the P99 discord servers and then multiply it by 100). Because you have top players from both factions in the same Discord, friendships naturally form.

My closest friend on my current server is an Alliance Rogue... who also has a Horde Rogue who he logs onto to gank Alliance players for lulz - including me. Game is not divided at all when it comes to faction in 2025.
