Intel just sucks and has for decades now, in AI and gaming and AMD aren't worth the trouble in regards to AI without the prioperity CUDA that nvidia has or w/e

if we're done pretending we aren't a evil empire though, just strong arm steal the tech like China do

Nvidia (Blackwell Platform) is 80% of the market and nobody is even bothering fucking with AMD (Instinct MI300/400) Intel (Gaudi 3)

the dude who designed the Ryzen chips for AMD is making his own dedicated AI chip though, private company forgot the name.

it does feel a little bit like the tech companies have just totally abandoned even caring about making products for people anymore and are just chasing some singularity event that will make it all seem worth it.

Is there a chance that we will look back upon this boom/bubble and find out that the tech companies did actually become so delusional they became a collection of actual cults?

I really think so. That movie the circle, kind of same idea. Could be all these wierdo progressive tech people went full retard.

i actually admire it, pushing all the chips in in the chase for the singularity on the off chance it actually works and if it does then it's totally worth it and they will look like geniuses but i do think its super delusional

but as far as cults go they seem to still be working the most in the realm of reality compared to the others.

I mean, if you’re gonna put it that way, yeah sure but I feel like that’s the first step you take tumbling down the stairs of joining a cult.

Like reality should point you in the direction that it’s not going to become super intelligent and maybe risking the entire economy on that weird bet is something only somebody whos tumbled down a staircase into a cult would actually want to risk [You must be logged in to view images. Although what if they’re talking about how like they really are just one step away from having another breakthrough just like they did with ChatGPT three and it’s gonna happen any day now?

Sigh… that sounds exciting but the reality is they’re probably just some Boot Camp nerd idiots.

super intelligent is one thing, parity with average intelligence and being able to emualate a person to the extent where the only thing left to argue about is the existence of a soul or not is what concerns me.

you can already create a Steve Jobs ai or different CEO that emulates them perfectly and leads to things like in star trek where the transporter is actually cloning people when they beam and isn't actually them on the other side kinda conundrums as far as the are you actually still you immortality problems when it comes to uploading your consciousness to the cloud

You don't get the entire silicon valley to join a cult, with parity.

Yeah well what about quantum computers? I was reading a science-minded magazine amongst a variety at the mechanics' (automotive not quantum) shop today and came across a pretty interesting article on quantum logic gates. Do any of you understand this concept and how it differs from electronic logic gates?

A company appears to even be selling 3-qubit personal quantum computers for only tens of thousands of dollars that you can buy right now and based on appearance it's about the size of a large desktop PC tower.

afaik the biggest difference is a logic gate can only be on or off, but a quantum bit can be on and off at the same time, so that allows for exponential multitasking or something as the technology gets better and better.

Those personal Quantum computers I was looking at a while back but are kind of like they're more for educational purposes, and like run quantum games or little logic exercises to play with on them like math blaster.

I don't know of anyone using any of them to do anything unusual but would love to find out that there are folks doing that!
