I agree 100%. DB's argument against THJ was that THJ was siphoning players away from live. If P1999 launched a new server, it would surely siphon players away from live...maybe not on the levels THJ did but enough that they would not want to lose $$ off it. I am not even sure how DB is profitable at this point. If they really wanted to bring players back they should do a remaster like Diablo 2 did.
Blizzard made diablo, DBG is a dead company that is just a name brand and owned by an investment bank that sues creativity, not is creative.

I hope they get criminal charges as well. LOL at THJ's lawyer grifting, they didn't even try. I wonder how big that retainer was, no doubt enough to flag the IRS system. I wonder what they will consider that income as.
Their defense played the only defense he could. It was EQ graphics, but they changed the game so much it wasn't "EQ" anymore. Now if THJ had money to dump into specialists and lobbyists like a real company does, it would be a different outcome.

I knew it was over when THJ lawyers were requesting arbitration

Honestly, good. THJ was setup as a way for 2 developers to make $20k a week from people who wanted to RMT on p99 or Live and couldn't, so they went to a place where RMT was "allowed"

You don't make 20k a week in donations. You make it by selling fast progression to people who want to RMT.

Which is all well and good - but make your own damn game. Seriously, shady shit tweaking EQ mechanics, appealing to as someone said, "RMT Whales" and using all of the existing IP to earn a living.

Make your own damn game, THJ.

Midwest America who lives off 20k a year in government assistance are sick to their stomachs.

Can't edit on RnF - woops. But reading that THJ literally left the Daybreak license.txt in the files for their server.

The fact that they put up a defense, and tried every trick in the book to avoid responsibility makes me understand what kind of people they were. Sheisters.

Daniel Schnapp of Dentons - represnting Daybreak - is seemingly a based Project 1999 enjoyer:

Quote:
"What THJ did is they created a derivative work that has
what's called a "God mode" or a "cheat mode" that allows them to
do away with the patience and the skill that it takes to play
the game, and has created what is essentially a way of playing
that allows you to jump over what our game is about, which is
about building these communities. It's about the skill, and
it's about the patience."

I listened to several of the Q&A sessions they did on stream and they all genuinely sounded like people who loved EQ and wanted to create something new and fun. Pity they had to ruin a good thing by being greedy af
