This was the expected outcome. You cannot steal IP, make it slightly different, then collect money from players. I also assume there is something between DB and P99 whereas P99 cannot create a new server.
I really don't think DBG cares about new servers: they care about making more money.

They <3 P99 and Quarm because those servers revive interest in EverQuest. (Some) people play on them and think "maybe I'll try live again" ... and ultimately DBG makes more money because P99/Quarm exist.

As long as DBG believes that a new emulated server will send them more players than it steals, I truly think they will encourage the creation of that server.

It’s really unfortunate that the leads of P99 can’t just make a simple announcement stating one way or the other (whether dbg is forbidding the creation of 1-2 new servers, or whether the team is currently putting it off for their own reasons).

The team doesn’t necessarily owe the playerbase this, but when you have players that have been here for years (some a decade most likely), I don’t see why they couldn’t just do it on good faith. What does being so cryptic get them, honestly?

How would that be useful? As far as I can see, Green 2.0 has everything to do with Rogean and Nilbog's plans, and nothing to do with DBG server limits.

Look, the whole mission of this place (classic EQ for everyone) requires only the same three servers we currently have: PvP (red), lifetime (Blue), and classic (Green).

Even if there was a prohibition against new servers, the staff could move Green players to Blue and wipe the server tomorrow. DBG would only prevent that if a new DBG server was coming out soon ... and even then it would only delay things by a few months.

I hope they get criminal charges as well. LOL at THJ's lawyer grifting, they didn't even try. I wonder how big that retainer was, no doubt enough to flag the IRS system. I wonder what they will consider that income as.

I think it's more about the crowd that play on p99, a new server is a serious workload for volunteers because a large portion of the player base are autistic and vindictive, lacking very basic social skills. I think they will open a new Red server long before a Green 2.0.

Lacking PvP teams. What's the word for that ruleset?

I wouldn't want to be affiliated with a group that is loved by DBG

I agree 100%. DB's argument against THJ was that THJ was siphoning players away from live. If P1999 launched a new server, it would surely siphon players away from live...maybe not on the levels THJ did but enough that they would not want to lose $$ off it. I am not even sure how DB is profitable at this point. If they really wanted to bring players back they should do a remaster like Diablo 2 did.

Then they should let the players police themselves. I remember on Live if you were an asshole, word would get around. There used to be a Warrior who would sperg out if you did not do exactly what he said. People took notice and stopped grouping with him. It got so bad he even had a name change because of it.

Let people train and KS etc and if they get a bad rep it will work itself out. Just let the server play out.
