If you are going to warmbody, play a bot. Or level a class you can chill out on and still actually contribute.
100%. Rogue works very well for this and really doesn't require much investment to meaningfully contribute. Think of it as a mercenary that's earning your main all of the DKP. A game within the game.

Rogues and clerics are basically infinitely stackable and you can tune out the feeble cries of "someone needs to step up" from bad leaders who don't know how to delegate while you earn your elf bucks for gear you don't need to help you kill things you can already kill.

Yeah, it's actually pretty hilarious how much mileage you can get out of a Rogue with Epic + a decent offhand and some basic resist gear. A+ best bang for buck raiding character.

Yea, rogues are just too good. Not having to faction to kill Doz with one is broken. They are even cheap to gear.

They're an absolute shit class to level legitimately, especially on a dying server. KSing an OOP shaman is kinda neat though.

Great point - and it's a damning indictment of the bot system - a self-feeding, never-ending cycle of players using bots on raids to gear their alts - alts they will never play on raids because they use bots.

I was never a fan of the system of calling people out mid raid and commanding them to swap to a "more useful" character or a bot. Let people play what they want - especially people who are more casual. It's pretty foolish to assume people will be happy to leave the character they spent dozens of hours of grinding exp to get to raid level - to then swap to a toon they have absolutely 0 commitment or attachment to, so that people with large DKP banks can get their 11th BiS item.

My response was always to just log out and do something else. I play EQ for fun - I have a job that pays my bills - where I have responsibilities to a larger system - but many hardcore raiders treat P99 as if it was a job.. A job that they sink countless hours into and don't get any type of real-world gains from. As a matter of fact, I once had a well-known raid leader tell me "people put 8 hours a day into this job" talking about levelling bots, etc. My response, "this is a game, bro."
Whats wrong with a scrub like knuckle playing druid during raids and than out bidding a main for loot? Lol. He will be 60 by 2030 rofl

I mean I don't even raid that much, I have spurts where I'd hit really high raid % for a few months at a time, but most of my raid time was during work because most of my analyst work was kind of interval based, meaning some days your just working 12 hrs straight, but then sometimes its like 2-3 days of 3-4 hrs of work a day. So on those days I could knock out some raids, but I rarely could step up on challenging roles and some of the more advanced FTE engage shit on like Vulak and stuff it was like, ehh I am just not even gonna go to this because I am going to end up having to AFK and wipe a raid or make the guild get a 30 day ban or something. And yeah Rogue bot is my favorite jam but the problem is a lot of raids would be really low numbers sometimes and I would feel bad not being able to be a playmaker, but that's just the skill/effort level I've been at in regards to my time commitment to EQ for the last 5 or so years.

Anyway I don't really have any complaints, I am just saying at its core, the DKP really doesn't effect the raid unless you are early in classic or something, so if I save up DKP for 3-6 months for my monk to get something I don't really feel bad. I also had to go through the same shit every new player/recruit went through where the hardcore dudes are gearing up their 8th toon and your getting outbid on your only toon. So it's all just a thing to me.

You should thank whatever company hired you to do anything more than give stickers to customers entering the establishment. You may be a full retard after all.

You ever think maybe you're a bad person? The people I hand out stickers to seem to genuinely appreciate it, and it makes me happy to help brighten someone else's day.

Sounds toxic man, I've worked plenty of jobs with 50-60+ hour weeks, and it provides no more benefit to society then some of the "easier" jobs I've worked. If you think you are a superior human being based on how much additional effort you put into a corporate job, I promise you no one gives a shit. That being said, I've been successful in multiple industry verticals so wherever your emotional dissonance is coming from sounds internal.
