Isnt the idea that most of us using p99 have the actual game discs available to install? So we can, you know, relive the past.

You're correct, while there were servers who got away with hosting their own client, THJ directly told their customers to download the Everquest Steam version before using their product. It's hilarious, their own wiki about EOM is also funny, i-it's strictly donations man and this is j-just a thank you for the donations bro. HAHAHAH.

Dalaya uses steam too. I couldn't figure it though.

You can thank me for this. I sent a few emails to them after THJ decided to ban me for no reason. Not usre if they knew this server existed before, and not sure if my emails had anything to do with it. I will say the mods etc at THJ can get fucked. Want to know what I did? I responded to someone bashing Putin and said Zelensky was a puppet.
