At least agnostics accept that we just don't know what the hell is going on.

I could never understand the kind of person that would say, "there is no god, i believe it with all of my heart"

then spend their night gazing at the stars talking about how infinite the universe is.

"Clearly, there is a discrepancy between the kind of universe we would expect a human-oriented God to create, and the universe we live in. How can we explain it? Surely the simplest explanation is that God doesn’t exist. The spatial and temporal size of the universe gives us reason to be atheists."

If you think like an evolved ape, a god that's like a smarter/more powerful ape seems perfectly natural, and it makes perfect sense to attribute things you don't understand (like a really big universe) to that "super ape" god.

But when you understand how vast the universe is, and how un-ape-like most other life forms in it must be, then the idea of an "ape-like god" becomes completely laughable.

I would imagine if the universe is infinite and contained all these wildly different life forms, God might appear to each as different

“Well that would sure cause a lotta theological disagreements if those species ever met each other”

- Yea well that’s pretty much what we have now, so yes

Papa said Martians, if there are Martians, are eligible for baptism. Who's the ape god now?

"When" you understand that? But we don't understand that. We don't know that there is necessarily life on any other planet, which is a scenario that does not require god. The specific conditions that gave rise to life on earth might just be that improbable. And if there's only life on one planet, you can only be born on that planet. Not to mention, assuming there is life on other planets, it might naturally require the same conditions and therefor might evolve in a similar way. There might just be other planets that basically just have more boring 'ol humans on them, with their own extinct dinosaurs and shit.

Point is agnosticism is still the logical answer. Claiming absolute certainty of a god and claiming absolute certainty of no god are two sides of the same coin.
