Sure you can cap cap dex with FoS as a STA-monk allowing you to proc Avatar ASAP. It won't help you solo without a Shaman to buff you but for raiding it's true enough. Unless you die and get ressed in fight, in which case you lose the buff and want to proc avatar ASAP.

However, if you go by the p99 monk wiki BIS-list with Gharn's and FoN and add resist-items like shawl of protection and VP robe you're still only 3 STA away from capped. There are a number of sidegrades you could swap in to max out those 3 STA or you could just self-buff.

So I'll maintain that at at the VERY end of the line STA stops to mattering for anything but some heavy resist-set wearing raid puller where it still probably will never matter. I'd personally rather be the heaviest solo hitter one can be. But like you say, DEX isn't exactly that useful either and even AGI could possibly be the best stat at that point.

But in any realistic setting, yeah STA is marginally better unless maybe you have a proc weapon.
I agree!

if you put 4 points in charisma you only need to swap (and carry!) 2 items to vendor at 100% value (59 base+30+15=104)

this is the kind of QoL thing that people often don't consider

Just go human for peak fashion and higher cha. Less items needed. Win win win

you gain 1 inventory slot in exchange for 1 gear slot (iksar racial is basically an extra item you have equipped)

I leveled a monk to 40 and realized it sucked because my str was so low. I re-rolled and put all points into str and leftovers in stamina. Just one monks experience, but I do not regret that decision at all.

Yes.

This is what the min/maxers cannot grasp. Anyone coming to elfsim forums to ask about starting stats is right smack in the middle of "average p99 player." Their leveling journey will be the bulk of their play, and strength is the answer.

To be fair you can also put all points in agi and not really tell the diff as anything but a minmaxer.

DEX vs STA isn't going to matter much either way. If you want to reroll, I recommend STR for most people unless you are going to be twinked and/or powerleveled.

If you are starting out as a monk untwinked or on a fresh server, STR is the best choice and it's not even close. You won't be capping STR for a long time and it's a constant dps boost that scales just as well for your entire leveling progression, most of which you will definitely not be capping STR. STA is terrible HP returns for most of your leveling progression as it scales poorly until you are near the level cap, and only really shines in later kunark/early velious when you are lvl 60 and don't have velious raid gear yet. It doesn't take long to hit 255 STA buffed in velious. The tradeoff is essentially having +20 STR while leveling for many months vs having uncapped STA for a few months. You should value your time.

I wouldnt ignore str, especially if you want to solo alot. Thats your damage potential. Dont bother with dex. Only add agi if you are gonna be a light monk. Most monks are phat monks. I guess just do whatever you think will be fun for you. I think I put all points into agi on my monk, but I wish i had put more into str. But im nearly lvl 50 now and doing alright.
