What a quote! I mean, I completely disagree, but that was great writing The fear for reasonable people is 100% falling. It’s just a matter of how much we can overpower or ignore it And I get shittier at that the older I get. When I was a kid I was climbing trees 4 stories tall no problem, and that was having fallen out of trees before when branch holds broke But as an adult I am developing a CRIPPLING fear of heights. I have mentioned before, if you made steps 1 foot wide, kept them on ground level, and I was being paid to walk them without falling, I would probably go years without a fall or stumble But put those same stairs 1000 feet in the air and offer to pay me to walk them without falling, and one of two things is going to happen - I either fall to my death - Or I sit my frozen in fear paralyzed ass down on one and wait for the fire department to come rescue me. And probably also fall to my death before that happens

![]() yeah, call of the void is Intrusive thoughts from depression and isn't just jumping,
i'm on the other end where i fear everything to a unhealthy crippling degree, call of the void is like you're in your kitchen and see the knifes in the wood block and fear your going to grab one and cut yourself or someone else, whatever example you want shit like that makes me feel way better about my problems lol

![]() I don't experience fear of falling. Just a strong desire to jump. It even feels reassuring.
They got this wrong. It's a miss conception that there's a fear. At least first and foremost. I have to avoid these kind of situations because I 100% feel like it would be a good thing. Only cold rational logic and a strong desire to achieve other goals have stopped me. Because despite wanting to you know you will die.

![]() I get what this girl is going through.
Overwhelming fear of X just consumes you to the point of wanting to just be out of it or dead. "IM TOO HIGH IM TOO HIGHNO NO NO NO NO IM TOO HIGH" I always wonder if i was in one of these if i would jump out out of fear of it falling on its own. I genuinely would be afraid I would jump out of this thing at heights like this. Not suicide, fear. FEAR. Just overwhelming panic attack fear.

![]() Intrusive thoughts is not accurate either
Not for me. I have an actual feeling of impulse. I can feel my body just moving itself. In the muscles. Like when you are preparing or training. It's a visual thing to. I feel and picture myself going over the edge and falling or dying and there's literally no panic with it. Not at all depressed or suicidal either when it happens. To combat it I have to focus on a different task or some goal and use grounding simultaneously to just observe without following the impulse.
