I have to disagree. Because P99 doesn't implement pet chaining properly, I wouldn't level with anything but the Earth pet here (at 49 or any other level).

With any other pet, you are guaranteed to get beat on the moment you drop the old pet.

I imagine you can get around this by using a bio orb. Blind the mob before chain summoning the next pet, so the mob won't immediately run towards you when the previous pet dies. The mob will attack the new pet when it gets into melee range while it's blinded. Recast bio orb a few times to make sure the new pet agro sticks.

That being said, many people can't afford to put a bio orb on their Mage. Just pointing out you probably could do a pet chain without an earth pet if you had a bio orb in the server's current state.
