I used to enjoy a neat Scotch every now and then too, Balvenie and Oban were my go-tos for something smooth. I’m also picky with Martinis; they’ve gotta be gin, stirred, dry, and in the classic glass or it just doesn’t feel right. I don’t drink much anymore, though. Got to a point where even casual drinking didn’t feel so casual mentally, even if it wasn’t frequent. It’s wild how everyone’s body and brain react differently, and what seems totally fine for one can slowly mess with another.

I’m in Abbeycare right now actually, and it changed how I think about what “normal” drinking even means. More people struggle quietly than you'd think.

Isn’t that the kind that’s not edible?

Ya’ll got nothing on my homeless alcoholic clients. I had one that would put hand sanitizer (stolen of course) into Gatorade (also stolen) and drank that. He had all kinds of CNS problems from it

And had another who would steal vanilla extract (for cooking) from stores and drink that

Edit: also had one who would drink cologne

i remember when they confiscated my giant bottle of Listerine out of my bag when my parents sent me to rehab, i was like "wait, people do what?"

Quote:
Yellow Listerine, or Listerine Original, is typically 54 proof, which translates to 26.9% alcohol. This is a higher alcohol content than many beers, wines, and even some liquors

Ethanol is what you can drink, all other kinds fuck your shit up in various ways. Listerine does contain ethanol but a modified form so that it's poisonous, which is kind of ironic when you think about it- kids can buy listerine and it's actually *more* dangerous, on purpose, than normal drinkable forms of alcohol, which they cannot buy.

It's all poison at the end of the day. I have huge respect for and kind of envy people who abstain completely.
