yeah, we say 'no ethical consumption' not necessarily to wash our hands of the responsibility, but to help ourselves sleep. industrial agriculture at the scale necessary to feed people these days is gonna have consequences, even if that was a 26-story kale farm. i bet the floors are slippery in there. pig processing has a powerful smell, i'd hate to live downwind.

i agree that those politicians trying to point the finger at the consumer are to be ignored. i think of that every time i see leonardo dicaprio whining about environmental stuff then climbing in to his private jet to go back to southern france or wherever he hangs.

i eat less meat than i used to only because i make a deliberate effort to eat more greens for health purposes. those would also go up in price as we squabble with canada. last i checked they hadn't played the 'tariffs on potash' card yet. we'd have to go to the russians to get it otherwise, i think.

i've only ever eaten snails as escargot, and even then that's maybe like five whole times in my life.

we really should get the F out of east europe, we have no strategic or moral reason to be there. The russians don't give a F about west europe other than military bases on their borders. We would be going ape shit if china or russia built military bases in Sinaloa or Chiahuahua

We were ready to fire nukes over russian bases in Cuba back in the day, that's how russia feels about NATO bases on it's border

and now NATO is building the largest european base in Romania directly south of Ukraine, and romania's "supreme court" ruled that the guy who opposes the base is not allowed to run because I quote, "TO PROTECT DEMOCRACY" we've heard that before huh

i wasn't make a statement on whether or not we should be buddies with them. i just mean they're likely a less reliable trading partner than a country like canada, and certainly the logistics are simpler given that canada is right there. no boats required, just trucks & trains. oh well. i don't own a farm, but i do like to eat.

Russia is closer to being a peer than Canada, China, or the EU. It's hard to forget how to walk as a superpower once you've done so.

We can talk to them and call each other on our BS and then make a deal.

If the EU is trying to push a global government, I'd rather have russia, argentina, north korea and iran on my side

incidentally, they didn't get tariffs but maybe thats because there is nothing to tariff

there is nothing in canada that we couldn't just go take without firing a shot
