I have been having this issue. Only on my laptop though, after I ran a windows 11 update. I have since rolled it back, completely reinstalled windows / game / ran a ton of other ideas/fixes around it.

Nothing sticks.

The issue is, as described, it just freezes on character select. I.E. You load game fine, it gets to server select fine. You load into the server (in my case blue) fine, but once I try to load into world, it locks up.

It locks up so bad, im not even able to pull up task manager. Switching windows users is the only way to get it to unlock and I can attempt again.

Something specific I noticed is the music. It will lag or make a glitchy (like its stuck) for a small second when I select server to go to character select. That is my queue its gonna happen. So I spare myself the freeze and try restarting the client until I don't hear it again.

When I don't hear the music glitch, I get in every time successfully. Once I'm in, there is 0 issues. Were talking 6+ hour gameplay sessions with raids, zoning etc. Its just you cant character switch or you could be locked out for 20 - 30+ minutes.

Ive gone up and down the list Loramin posted, as well as a bunch of other niche ideas/fixes.

Whatever this IS, its new.

My latest idea/fix was to completely disable/turn off Killer Network (its a suite that comes with intel) -- I had issues with this years ago in Destiny 2 -- would cause major lag and disconnects. ILl try and report back if that works.

At this point I am at a complete loss. Been playing p99 consistently for 2+ years on this laptop, no issues.
