But those are supposedly the best for running, and that is the drawback is that less material tends to wear out quicker. I’ve heard the serious racers will even buy ones that deteriorate so much they are only good for a single race, or maybe only a few. Serious racers are so serious about a personal best. If you're getting knee/joint pain while running in an older pair of shoes they've probably lost their bounce and you're more likely to pick up an injury.
That feel of a new pair and walking like you're bouncing in low gravity is great but the sheer cost of more than 1-2 good pairs a year adds up :s
